WTF was GamerGate!?
Okay, so there was this unending train wreck back around 2015, and there's probably still basement-dwelling die-hards still clinging onto it for dear life in order to give their existence meaning, but it was the iconic and perfect example of how to take the right message, the right drive, and the right goals, to then ultimately wipe it all up your backside and flush it straight down the crapper!
Don't get me wrong here, in the beginning it really was about the gaming industry, games journalism, and the ethics therein. For those that wanted to assume that it was just about the ZoeyPost and attacking who it was about, it wasn't at all and those people clearly missed the huge bold red flags that stemmed from the ZoeyPost and surrounding facts.
For quite sometime, years even, perhaps even a decade or more if you really wanted to be technical and dig back that far, gamers were more and more growing disgusted with what they were experiencing. Game production was getting worse and at times crooked, while there was constant scrutiny from mainstream media as well as games media telling you what a pathetic loser you were for daring to have ever played a video game ever in your life and that somehow video games were the reason for all the bloodshed and problems all around the globe.
Some psycho goes crazy and shoots up people or runs people over, and of course the liberal media would have society believe that Grand Theft Auto or Saints Row had hidden subliminal messages that would drive people to do such a thing -- yet ironically nobody seemed to see the same hoax cop out from the mid to late 80s in there! Anybody else remember the urban legend that would tell you that if you spun certain vinyl records backwards they supposedly told you to eat children and such? Yeah, when you look at them side by side they do seem like similar hoaxes aye?
But then to make it worse, most of games journalism, seemingly overnight, due in large part to "political correctness", suddenly turned against the key demographic that they served (some may recall the unified "Gamers are Dead" article that mysteriously popped up on every SJW journalist outfit, each seemingly written by different authors, yet all saying the same exact thing) and started telling people that played Grand Theft Auto or Saints Row that they were obviously sexist misogynist despicable worthless scumbags because the content of the games they were playing... even those of us more than plenty old enough to meet the age and maturity rating of such games, but basically if you'd ever played them even once and dared to enjoy it you had to hear literal hyperbole from SJWs imploring you to turn in your membership with the human-race and that you don't deserve to breathe anymore... your tastes and choices be damned!
Then as time went on, the out of limits boundaries broadened... it was no longer specific games that would steal your membership to humanity but overly broad restrictions. Like if a game had a woman that was shapely, or if the main protagonist dared to be set as a male, if it dared to have any adult or off-color humor, if it dared to have weapons of any kind, if it dared to have a damsel (in-a-dress) in distress, if it dared to have vehicular control in an open world setting... to where we could basically only play chess and candyland to have any hopes of saving our humanity and dignity.
Even worse the games journalists that were supposed to represent the gamers and share in unity, started preaching to gamers which games that they deemed to be okay, and free of scorn, that they personally endorsed in order to save our collective gaming souls! Sound familiar?? It should... it was a lot like the die-hard self-righteous bible-thumpers from the 1980s that would swear football was of the devil, or even the modern day Westboro Baptist Church. People play games for fun, to escape, to unwind, while shelling out their hard earned dollars in order to do so... they really don't care to be preached at and insulted by the people meant to represent them that were getting their salaries from the gamers purchases! Even worse that often times games journalist and game developers would preach one thing from on high, yet kept getting caught doing the exact opposite -- case in point, the Duke Nukem Forever fiasco!
Enter the ZoeyPost... after awhile of the gaming industry turning on and skewering its key demographics, as well as nonsense like game journaliss going to journalism award shows, fully paid for, hotel room and all, by the game developers they were supposed to be critical towards in their damned reviews! (Again quite similar to the Duke Nukem Forever fiasco.) I mean honestly, would you be able to objectively tell somebody that paid for your vacation, hotel room, and gave you tons of bonus extra FREE swag, that their product sucked!? Gaming may as well have been one gigantic timeshare!!
Thus, how the ZoeyPost came to be the catalyst that would seemingly spark a gaming revolution! After everything else, to find out that somebody that most never really knew nor heard about, that only really made one buggy and broken text-based game, with a fairly checkered past, for same said person to suddenly be showered with multiple lavish game development awards, big salaries, huge notoriety... it didn't make any sense whatsoever... until it was revealed that she basically slept her way not just to the top, but basically the inner-circle of the gaming industry! Sure and granted, the ZoeyPost first read like an Enquirer-style hit/smear piece by her jilted ex... and even after month after month of denial and deflection, the truth and admittance kept coming to surface. It was all true!
She would have an affair with a high up in an off-shoot journalist outfit, then ironically not long after the same person she slept with would put out a review gushing all over the one game she made without ever having disclosed that they were involved, to then find out there were also kickbacks. It also came out that one of the people she had an affair with just happened to be one of the key and instrumental judges responsible for giving her one game, so many rewards. She may as well have been the reincarnation of the Helen of Troy!
So for those that would want to say that GamerGate was only formed to attack her specifically, it wasn't, but at the same time she was basically the epitome of most of the unethical practices in the gaming industry at that time! I mean honestly, most people that saw or played her game that were being honest would tell you it was mostly garbage. The Atari, ColecoVision, and BASIC games of the 80s could run circles around it all day long!
So at the start GamerGate was good, and I was one of the very first originals, and gaming for a time seemed glorious again, but then enter 2016 -- the true awakening!!!
Now, I can never be completely certain whether the movement got taken over and/or co-opted with many of the originals leaving, or if they were wolves in sheeps clothing the entire time. Forgetting the fact that GamerGate eventually became its own echo-chamber where the GG groups would only discuss amongst themselves while sharing the same articles, that were months if not years old, over and over again as if each share was somehow the very first share... but then the politics of the movement became all too clear!
It started to become painfully obvious to those, such as myself, that came to become Trump-supporters, that you suddenly weren't really welcome anymore, gaming unity be damned! I first came to find this out when I did the research on Trump, liked what I saw, and tried to point out how the Trump movement was a lot like the GamerGate movement -- yeah, that obviously didn't go over too well... but I called it, I said the toxic issues and PC cultute seen in GametGate was going to jump the shark over to politics (turns out I was 150%+ correct!). I also suddenly started becoming the target of a lot of scorn for exercising my right to stand behind the candidate of my own choosing, as well as being flamed or blocked without any reason given (so game journalists tell you what games you're supposed to play, and the gamers disgruntled by that will tell you who you're supposed to vote for... really!?).
I would then go on to attempt to share positive articles about Trump throwing verbal shots at Elizabeth Warren, considering Warren was starting to back the SJWs of anti-GG (as well as Warren coming out to also be a starch backer of Hillary Clinton). I'd also share other pro-Trump articles that seemed relevant and related... I was quickly informed that politics weren't welcome, and since I was gung-ho on politics (which I've never been in the past), I took a month or two off from GG to pursue them.
I still recall my return... No Man's Sky had just released, and since most that touched it either outright loved it or outright hated it, without much middle ground, I figured I'd stop into the GG groups to see what the consensus was. Imagine my surprise when I glance upon pro Hillary Clinton and Bernie Sanders posts everywhere and like crazy, with a bit of Gary Johnson also sprinkled in for good measure. I try asking what gives since I was told politics weren't welcomed... the same people that told me that then proceed to dog-pile me accusing me of being salty and claiming that it's no big deal... like WTF!? (Kind of the same treatment that mainstream media and large media sites go about partaking in, in the present day!)
That's when the reality finally sank in... see, the hard edge PC culture being pushed from the anti-GG stemmed from the liberal Democrat agenda... so if pro-GG are also about a strong push for the pro liberal Democrat agenda... it means the ENTIRE THING was one giant circle-jerk lovers' quarrel amongst Democrats and any not interested in the Democratic agenda needed not apply!! Even worse when the pro-GG started spouting the fake-news and false-facts about Trump... claiming he wanted to move all businesses overseas, and he wanted to kill off jobs, and how he supposedly hated veterans, the disabled, and the retired and planned to axe all of their benefits. For a bunch of people that pretended to be intellectually superior, pro-GG perfectly proved what hypocritical dumb sheep that they were. They hated being preached to, lied about, propagandized against with false so-called facts by game journalists and anti-GG, while proclaiming to despise hypocrisy... to turn around and do the same exact thing to anybody that wouldn't support Democrats! Bunch of self-righteous sell-out reject hypocrite scum.
Hence why GamerGate was actually, all along, LamerHate! (Good Riddance!!!) xD

PPS - What's even more sad is about half way through, late 2015 or early 2016, GamerGate was being dismissed as "alt-Right"... and hardly anybody spoke up to say that they were leftist, when as stated and found to be completely true, it was left vs left all along... could the whole thing have been a contrived sham meant to actually damage the credibility of the right, even when it turns our that everything in it ended up being left rooted!? -_-

FURTHER ANALYSIS: What the average Gamergater is too blatantly dumb and sheepish to understand... they often mocked the whole idea of gender-fluidity and the whole 96 genders or however many it's up to now... they stem from leftist ideology, so they scream against it, vote leftist, it still comes to pass as the norm. They'd scream against neo-feminism where men would be shamed just for being born men and their uncontrollable biology, as well as the idea of "white privilege" and identity-politics... those all stem from the leftist agenda, they vote leftist, it comes to pass as a norm. They scream against censorship and silencing opposing views, something massively coming from the left side of the aisle, they then vote leftist, those actions come to pass as the norm. Until eventually 1984 isn't just a novel, but the new reality... hence why LamerHate was one gigantic circle-jerk actively working against itself and utterly doomed to fail no matter what! They may as well have been trying to douse the SJW fires with gasoline... GG's final verdict is completely dumb, contrived, and a gigantic waste of everybody's time, energy, and passion... again, good riddance to the most toxic circle-jerk sham in video-game history!
